Mr. Jure Sterk is a Slovenian 72 year old extreme sailor who wants to achieve two Guiness world records:
1. To be the oldest man in the world who would sail all around the globe non stop
2. Sail all around the globe non stop with the smallest boat without engine

Jure participated in many sailing races before and already sailed around the globe between years 1991 to 1994 but he had stopped in many countries. After the short war for  Slovenia's independency he decided to sail all around the world under Slovenia's flag in order to promote Slovenia as an independent country. He is one of the most skilled solo sailors. He also wrote four books about his sailing adventures.

He started his sailing already in the summer 2004 but he always experienced problems. Mainly the problem is the boat and equipment, sometimes weather conditions force him to take shelter in the nearest port. It happened quite some times in the last three years. Inspite many troubles he is struggling through Jure is determine he is going to reach his goal. After replaced or reinforced many vital parts of the equipment  the chances to struck a problem again are smaller. Howev er, to repair and reinforce his sail boat and equipment  he couldn't  get through  without sponsors which help him to go on after problems struck.

After Jure left Tauranga, New Zealand in the beginning of November this year, his water maker failed after about 350 miles so he had to turn back. Before Tauranga Jure sailed into a storm and since he lost radio contact the coast guard of Tauranga started a search and rescue action. Servicers recently repaired his water maker besides he purchased another one for back up. Jure bought also a new back up radio equipment. Now seems every vital part of equipment is reinforced or doubled therefore chances to go something wrong has to be significantly smaller this time. Jure is now ready to go but he has only to wait for a good wind which will push him to open sea.

Jure survived very tough storm while he was sailing around Cape Horn at the end of February. It was his toughest experience on the sea. He successfully passed around Cape Horn with no bigger damage. Since he had extremely powerful gusts of wind only his anemometer failed.
